When we took over governance in October 2004, we knew that we had to restore city infrastructure in order to be ready for new economic development. When it comes to business investment, infrastructure development is certainly a priority - we therefore immediately identified the issues in order to start addressing them. Regarding problems built up over the decades that could not be solved by our own efforts, we turned for help to Government of the Republic of Serbia. I am pleased to say that we enjoyed its full support in tackling numerous issues of strategic relevance for our City.
Our main responsibility over the past period was to invest justly, build up image of municipality and promote our potentials. The results achieved confirm that we are heading in the right direction. We are one of the ten municipalities involved in Municipal Economy Growth Activity (MEGA) program funded by the United States Agency for Intenational Development. Along with seven other municipalities, we are doing the project in the field of water supply supported by the German Government trough KFW bank. Loznica is one of the six municipalities implementing the project „Support to increased citizens' participation" realized by the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities in cooperation with Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. For already two years we have been participating in project „Citizens' monitoring of municipal budget", realized by the nongovernmental sector.
Dynamic development activities are enfolding in all areas, starting from adoption of strategic documents to realization of concrete project, above all industrial zones.
Loznica is one of the first three cities in Serbia that were awarded business friendly certificates by the National Alliance for Local Economic Development and Ministry of Economy and Regional Development.
If success is measured by the accomplished tasks then we, as local self-governance, can be satisfied with what had been done over the past three years.
